Presidents Corner= …

I’d like to thank all of you that came to the Tying Breakfast. We had about 12-15 people there,

also we gained new members. The next is scheduled for March 11, 2006 8am. Until Noon. We have Tee Shirts orde= red and they will be in soon.

Our speaker for = March is Dick Walle the guru of soft hackle flies, we will have a short business<= o:p>

meeting then devote the rest of the evening to his presentation. After, he wishes to tie flies with

our group, what a great treat for u= s. SO BRING YOUR TYING TOOLS!!

I have made some changes to the calendar and it should be easier to use and read, check it o= ut

on the web site. =

Don’t forget that Thursdays will be at = the Mill Hollow Carriage House 6pm-9pm.

Did you notice that the days are getting longer, could it be that Spring is on = its way? One could only hope. So clean out that old equipment an= d send a list to any board member to list it in the newsletter. Sell it or swap it, I’m sure someone wants it.

Editors notes…

     March brings Spr= ing and warmer weather. It also brings the time to renew your Ohio fishing license. If you plan to d= o any steelhead fishing or any fishing for that matter on public streams and wate= rs, unless you like to throw caution to the wind and take the chance of having = your gear confiscated by the local patrol, you might just want to renew. Conside= ring what neighboring states are charging, we still have a bargain for an annual tag.

     Our last general meeting with speaker Bob Sheedy brought to us by his diesel powered vw from= the plains of Manitoba was informative as to the area he hails from. It was also a bit of an education = with the tactics he explained on stillwater fishing. Too bad the weather didn’t m= ake for a better member turnout. But, that’s Winter in Ohio.

     If you havenR= 17;t paid your 2006 Firelands membership yet, please contact Brent Feorene. He w= ill be giving out the new member cards at the next meeting to any paid members = who have not received them. Anyone who is not up to date on their club and federation memberships will be taken off the mailing list.

     I recently recei= ved info from Rick Davis of the Outdoor Experience in Brinkhaven, Ohio.

Formerly the Wolf Creek Trout Club. Rick is offering a day of fishing in March for $10.00.

     We are still loo= king into ideas for our annual fund raiser.&nbs= p; If you have any to offer bring them up at the next general meeting on the 8^th. Hope to s= ee you then.

Favorite Fly=

Tom Zmina has chose= n a classic fly this month. The Prince = Nymph. This is a good representation of a stonefly nymph and is used to catch brown and rainbow trout. It can also catch bass and other forms of panfish as wel= l. Sizes range from 4-12 and can be tied with or without additional weight. If= you have your own variation or recipe for the Prince Nymph, bring it to the Thursday evening sessions the month.

Basic recipe:

Hook - Mustad 9671 4 - 12
Thread - Black 6/0

Tail - Brown goose biots

Rib - Fine gold tinsel

Body - Peacock herl

Hackle - Brown hen

Wing - White biots tied in with tips facing b= ack.
