Good things are in our future!! We now have a Director of Fly Tying, Please welcome Tom Zmina. His knowledge and enthusiasm will greatly benefit this Club.

The Speaker for February will be Bob Sheedy, Check him out at myflyfishing.net.

I had a great opportunity to meet the President of FFF, R.P. “Van” VanGytenbeek at the Northern Ohio Fly Tying Expo. It was a pleasure and experience to represent our club at the presidents Dinner following the Expo. Our Federation has many new things planned. Too many to list. More on them as they start.

I would like our members to put on their thinking caps! We need an annual fundraiser: Clam= Bake – Tie Off – Fishing Derby.&nbs= p; This will require the effort of our group as a whole.

February 18^th is the Breakfast / Tying, 8am till no= on bring your tools and tie a few or learn how. Tom will be on hand to help wi= th this project and remember, this is open to the public. So bring a friend or invite someon= e.

John Sabo has been diligently working on some trips (one day a= nd multi day also weekends) and we are starting to see the fruits of his labor= s. If you have any suggestions on trips please see John. Joe “The raffle man” h= as a bid raffle in the works. Watc= h for details on that.

As of the writing of this= letter, I’ve had no word from Bill Grake as to how his trip is going. Bill sh= ould be back in the end of February or beginning of March.

Spring is almost here and= we can only dream of the fishing to come. So on that note sweet dreams. See you February 8, 2006.

= Editors notes… =

In an effort to make the club more efficient and get the best = bang for our buck on speakers and events, the board is looking into the possibil= ity for the future of working with North Coast or Mohican Fly Fishers to share = some big draw speakers. And to schedule local events with those clubs where we c= ould invite some of their members to fish a local spot and they would return the= favor. Jo= hn Sabo is working out the logistics on this approach and we will hear more ab= out it at a later time.

The North Coast Expo held last month was a great success. Our table was manned by member tyers and we got much interest from those in attendance looking at joining our group. Also, those attending got some gre= at deals on fly fishing equipment. We all probably spent more than we needed t= o, but hey, it’s only money. Great job again, North Coast!

Now that we have numbers to our group. The Trading Post will be a regular section again. I thought that since we now have m= embers of all experience and equipment levels, we could make it beneficial to all = of us. If you have something to = sell or trade, or are looking for that certain fly fishing item, send in your requests to me by the last Wednesday of the month to be posted in the follo= wing edition.

If you have anything else you’d like to have in the newsletter that would be of benefit to others in the club, get it to me by = the same date. Whether it’s a fishing story, a new fly pattern or somethi= ng our group can do to educate others and represent our association with the Federation.

Lorain is having their Outdoor Days in May at Sandy Ridge the = 20^th and 21st. We are planning on having a table to do tying and maybe casting demonstrations. If you are interested in helping out contact a board member= .

We would like participation from as many members as possible. = The more input and help we get from others, the better and stronger our organization will become.

It’s not too early to think about volunteering for a boa= rd position for next season. Someone will need to replace me as editor in the Fall. I greatly enjoy putting the newsletter together, but if anyone out th= ere would like to step up, the requirements are simple. If you like to write and would enj= oy putting your personal flair to a basic information mailer or create an award winning graphics piece, go for it.
