News & Notes

May Fly of the Month

This month's fly is the Steelhead Streamer.

Next Meeting: May 9th - Casting Night!

Our annual Casting Night is Wednesday, May 9. Casting night is an excellent opportunity for fly

fisherman of all skill levels to come learn more about rods and improve your cast. I know I learn

something helpful every year and a few years ago, some of the most basic advice changed the way I cast.

You may find that you could cast further, with less effort. Bring your rods ready to cast, but no hooks

please! Tie on some yarn or cut the hook off of an old wooly bugger. Casting Night takes place at French

Creek Pine Tree Picnic Area #1, same location as our June picnic. Enter off of French Creek Road, west

of Abbe and east of River Road. Entrance is just west of railroad tracks, follow drive all the way back.

Summer Picnic and Raffle - June 13th

Members and their spouse/guest will be invited to our annual summer picnic and raffle on Wednesday, June 13 at Pine Tree Picnic Area #1. Our largest fundraiser for the year is the summer raffle. We use this money to pay for accomplished guides and fly fishing experts to come be our speakers.

This year, each member is asked to sell (or buy) at least 4 tickets at $5 each - $20 total. We know you can do more and many of you will. Joe Sloboda will have tickets and details regarding the raffle at Casting Night next week. Please pick up your tickets there.
